Missing: Minnesota Geek/Developer/Creative Trust
MISSING: Geek/Developer/Creative TRUST!
I’m missing something and I’m hoping you all can help me find it. It’s gender neutral. It speaks with a passion for what it believes in. People call it Geeks, Nerds, Artsy, Modern, Thoughtful, Innovative, Brilliant & Disruptive to name a few things. It looks for an outlet for its passion.
If you know of where to find it in Minnesota let me know.

A few weeks ago I sent out this tweet in frustration with some things going at work. That frustration is still there but I’m keeping it under the surface and not visible to people for the most part. Since that tweet I’ve found the reason for the frustration is an outlet for the kind of thinking that frees a person from the day in day out work in an office. You know that creative, pie in the sky, no limits, outside the inside the outside box type of thinking that some thrive on.
I was surprised when I only got 1 response to the request. I also only got 1 ReTweet as well. Not really what I was hoping for but oh well.
Yesterday morning there was again some movement in that direction of thinking. There were sparks of ideas. There were off shoots. And there was even some off the wall thinking. This movement can be attributed to meeting up & having coffee with someone else who thinks in some of those same directions. That movement was all it takes for my mind to start thinking more and more in that direction.
It also made me realize how much affect the Silicon Valley type of thinking has sunk into every nook and cranny. And the last time I was in the valley was 2000. Since then I have moved around and finally landed here in Minnesota in 2005.
I really don’t want to have to move to either the east or west coast to find what I’m looking for. I would much rather see Minnesota become another developer /creative trust that it should be. The only way for this to happen is for developers / creative types to meet with a goal in mind the breathing of life into or the decimation of an idea.
Take an idea that a participant of the group has and throw everything we have at that idea for a short period (no more than a month) of time and move on to the next idea a participant may have. By throw everything I’m talking the whole house including the Kitchen sink and then adding the houses and sinks from all sides to that. Bring outside people in from outside fields to add to the mix like an anthropologist or sociologist or a space alien if we can find one. Kidding that last one was to see if you all are still with me.
Hopefully I have made my point.
